Mission brief
A complete backend platform with serverless Postgres, authentication, object storage, functions, and an AI gateway, designed for developers and AI agents.

Questions from the ground
Does Neon offer a backend now?
Yes. Alongside the serverless Postgres database, Neon now offers Managed Better Auth, Object Storage, Functions, and AI Gateway as a full backend suite that runs alongside the database and branches with it.
What is a Neon project?
A project in Neon is the top-level container for your environment. Each project includes all branches, with your Postgres databases and optionally your Object Storage buckets, Functions, Managed Better Auth endpoints, and AI Gateway access.
What is a CU?
A CU (Compute Unit) is Neon's way of representing Postgres database compute size. Neon databases autoscale, and CUs define how much CPU and memory the database is using at any moment, with each CU allocating approximately 1 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM.
What does no monthly minimum mean on paid plans?
Neon's paid plans don't require a minimum monthly spend or base fee. You are billed purely based on usage. If one month you barely use Neon, your bill might be just a few dollars, especially if your databases are mostly idle or only run briefly for development or testing.
How is Postgres database storage billed in Neon?
You don't provision or manage database storage in advance; it scales automatically as your data grows. At the end of each month, you're billed for the database storage actually consumed per project, measured in GB-months. Storage is billed separately for regular database storage and history storage (write-ahead log retained for instant restore).
